Just so you'll know what happens next, here's an example of the way
we'd manage a typical web site development...
Getting started
We start with a brief meeting with you to find out what we need to know
to write a proposal and give you a realistic estimate of costs and a timeline.
Within a week...
We discuss your brief and write a proposal describing what you want
and how best to deliver that to you. We may include an estimate, though
not always, especially if we feel that we've come up with more questions
than answers. If we have given you an estimate, you'll also have received
an authorisation for us to proceed with the project.
It outlines our terms of business as well as clarifying the breakdown
of costs, timelines and a brief description of the project. We use it to
make sure each of us agrees about what we are going to do for you: we need
this authorisation signed and returned to us before we can start work. New
clients are always asked to pay up to 50% of the project costs in advance
with the remainder due on delivery of the project. For future projects,
we'll happily extend longer payment terms.
Underway...
Once the project has started we'll be available at any time for meetings
or we'll lower our heads and get on with the tasks at hand. If we need more
information or need to get your opinion, you'll be the first to hear. And
if you want reports on how we're proceeding, we'll be happy to provide them
whenever you like.
Ready, set...
We always like to give you a chance to look at a web site before it
is launched to the world. This usually happens several days before the final
delivery and gives us both a chance to test the site and make final adjustments.
Launch...
Once the site is launched we'll step up our promotional activities,
checking on listings with search engines, indices and directories. And if
you've asked us to, we'll keep an eye on the site adding new material and
managing the promotion of the site.
